ULLINK Wins Best New Trading and Execution Product at the FOW International Awards 2017
Latest award recognises ULLINK leadership in automated electronic execution
LONDON, 7 December 2017 – ULLINK, a global provider of electronic trading and connectivity solutions to the financial community, today announced its success in the FOW International Awards 2017. ULLINK has been recognised for its solutions in the category of Best New Product for Trading and Execution. A panel of industry experts lauded the significant enhancements made to ULLINK’s Smart Order Router – UL SMART – during the judging period, reflecting the investment ULLINK has made to enhance the product for cross asset class support amidst a rapidly changing market structure.
UL SMART is a module within ULLINK’s portfolio of automated, electronic trading products. First released in 2009 against the backdrop of market fragmentation in European Equities trading as a result of MiFID I, the product has been significantly revised to help brokers take advantage of MIFID 2 redefined trading landscape, bringing support for support for new types of execution workflows across multiple asset classes. These include new trading models such as continuous auctions, Large-In-Scale (LIS) block trading venues and RFQ-based Systematic Internaliser (SI) flows, allowing Broker clients to provide Best Execution in an increasingly diverse liquidity environment.
ULLINK is targeting both Institutional and Retail flows with its latest solution. Functionality for pre-calculation of exchange fees and commissions is built in, to handle complex rules for rebates and discounts and hidden costs that appear when settlement of long and short orders is not performed on the same venue. UL SMART integrates directly with Middle Office solutions to retrieve real-time fee and commission information, to ensure best execution decisions are made with the latest and most accurate information available.
Speaking of the award, Richard Bentley, ULLINK’s Chief Product Officer, said, “We are very pleased to win the FOW award and believe this is further affirmation that we are targeting our R&D investments at the most critical area of automated, low-touch execution. Regulation is mandating Best Execution across asset classes, but the same regulation is driving increasing complexity in achieving and evidencing it, as liquidity is fragmented and new types of venues emerge. We are committed to making further enhancements to UL SMART and our portfolio of electronic execution products to help our clients stay ahead.”
UL SMART can be deployed separately, as enterprise or fully-managed service, or as part of a full automated trading solution. It is delivered as a plugin to ULLINK’s UL BRIDGE connectivity middleware, which connects to hundreds of trading venues and processes nearly 30 million orders per day across ULLINK’s global customer base.
